The Junior Tour Powered by Under Armour - Southeast Georgia will be sending 14 players to the upcoming Junior Tour Powered by Under Amour National Championships. The Championships will be played July 17-18 at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. at the Disney Magnolia, Palm and Oak Trail golf courses. Over 420 players from across the nation will compete for the titles across four age groups.
“I am very excited for our players, it not often you get a chance like this and I know our players are excited to display their talents on the national stage.” said Greg Zecca, Southeast Georgia League director. “These golfers earned their spots and I truly wish them the best.”
League champions Talyn Childress (Rincon, Ga./15-18 age group), Quentin Brooks (Savannah, Ga./12-14 age group), Colton Johnson (Appling, Ga./9-11 age group) and Camden Guyton (Kathleen, Ga./6-8 age group) will lead a contingent of strong golfers from all over Southeast Georgia.
Joining Childress in the 15-18 age group will be Alex Hays (Bonaire, Ga.). The two players accounted for all the league wins in that age group.
In the 12-14 age group, the Southeast Georgia League sends its deepest contingent with five players making the trip led by league champion Brooks. This group also has four other players who won medals over the course of the league season including Grant Edens (Milledgeville, Ga.), Tyler Shippy (Savannah, Ga.), Josh Walker (Milledgeville, Ga.) and Connor Zecca (Milledgeville, Ga.).
Colton Johnson (Appling, Ga.) and Finn Nixon (Savannah, Ga.) will represent the league in the 9-11 age group. Johnson had and impressive eighth-place finish at the Regional Championships and should be in the mix come Sunday. Nixon is a seasoned junior golfer and is fired up to make the trip and test his skills.
In the 6-8 age group, Camden Guyton (Kathleen, Ga.) will lead the way and be joined by Eli Brandt (Blufton, S.C.), Tucker Jenrette (Perry, Ga.) and Rusty Harrison (Macon, Ga.). Guyton is one of the most decorated 7-year-old golfers in Georgia and wants to add The Junior Tour UA National Championship to his list of accomplishments.
“This was a great inaugural season, and to end it with these fine young golfers getting a chance to compete in a National Championship is amazing. These kids and their families commit a lot of time and energy to get to this level, and they should be applauded for their efforts,” said Zecca. “For me it’s about the kids and The Junior Tour and Under Amour has made this such a kid-focused and special experience, I can’t wait to see where we go from here.”
The Junior Tour – Southeast Georgia League will be back in action in the fall with six league matches scattered between Sept. 15 and Dec. 14.
