The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released the 2021 men's basketball schedule Tuesday, a 16-game list of all conference matchups for Georgia College, including eight contests in the Centennial Center.
"We are excited to be playing basketball this season and believe we have a chance to have a successful year," said head coach Mark Gainous. "We have experienced players at every position and want to build on the momentum we had at the end of last season. There have been many challenges in regards to the ongoing pandemic and our primary concern is the health and safety of our student-athletes."
The season begins at home, Jan. 6 against Francis Marion University. After a pair of road contests, the Bobcats welcome 2020 PBC Tournament Champion and NCAA Tourney Qualifier Lander University Saturday, Jan. 16.
Other highlights include traveling to No. 22 UNC Pembroke Jan. 23. UNCP won the PBC regular-season title and also made a trip to the NCAA Regional. The Bobcats travel to another NCAA Tournament participant Jan. 8 when they take on Augusta University.
The PBC Tournament will follow the regular season, featuring the top four finishers in the league. More details on the tournament are to follow.
The schedule is subject to change, however as the Centennial Center has been serving as an extra academic building to meet social distancing guidelines. Any schedule changes will be announced at GCBobcats.com.
The Bobcats return after a 14-16 campaign a year ago, one that saw them pick up a win over Augusta in the opening round of the PBC Tournament. Back are all five starters, led by two-time All-PBC pick and senior Jordan Thomas (Conyers).
