Old Capital Classic
The 100 Black Men of Milledgeville and Lake Oconee are holding the Old Capital Classic basketball tournament on Wednesday and Thursday at Cordell Events Center on the campus of Georgia Military College. Six boys teams and four girls teams are competing in the tournament. A one-day ticket for students costs $6, while a two-day ticket costs $10 for students. A one-day ticket for adults costs $10, while a two-day ticket costs $15.

All-star basketball camp
Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All-star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only and boys and girls ages 10 to 19 are eligible to apply. Past participants of the camp include Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antwan Jamison. Players from 50 states and 18 foreign countries attended the 2005 camp. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the all-American team. Camp locations include Gainesville, Prescott, Ariz., Thousand Oaks, Calif., Sterling, Colo., Bridgeport, Conn., Babson Park, Fla., Champaign, Ill., North Manchester, Ind., Towson, Md., Ypsilanti, Mich., Glassboro, N.J., Schenectady, N.Y., Hickory, N.C., Lebanon, Tenn., Commerce, Texas, Blacksburg, Va., Lyndonville, Vt., and Beloit, Wis. Soccer Winter Wonderland
USSF “D” Licenced soccer coach Hollis Springer is hosting Hollis’ Soccer Winter Wonderland on Jan.8 at soccer field No. 2 at Walter B. Williams Jr. Park to help players learn basic fundamentals of the game. There will be an instructional segment for coaches and parents, plus practice for the players. Everyone is asked to bring a soccer ball and bottled water.
