GMC Prep varsity football’s upcoming game at East Laurens, scheduled for Friday, has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns at the East Dublin school.
East Laurens posted the news on its school Facebook page Monday, and GMC Prep head football coach Lee Coleman also confirmed the postponement with The Union-Recorder. Friday’s game was supposed to be homecoming for East Laurens.
“After much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to postpone Friday’s Homecoming Game due to the number staff and students within the football and band program who have either tested positive or are being quarantined,” a portion of the East Laurens social media post reads.
The two schools will try and reschedule for later in the season, but GMC Prep-East Laurens is a non-region matchup, so a makeup is not necessary since it has no bearing on the postseason.
The GMC Prep Bulldogs’ next scheduled game is now Friday, Oct. 16, at home against Wilkinson County.
