The Georgia College Women’s Basketball team starts the 2021 campaign at home Saturday, Jan. 9 at 1:30 p.m., taking on USC Aiken in the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats return four of their five starters from a season ago, and their top seven scorers in total points. Providing a big chunk of that scoring punch is junior Harper Vick (Marietta), who had a breakout season a year ago, averaging 14.2 points per contest. Vick is a balanced threat, leading GC in knocking down threes (41) and in free throws (113) in 2019-20.
Senior Keyonna Wesley (Pearson) provided 8.4 points per game a year ago, and will look to be a more consistent option in 2021. Wesley finished last season strong, putting in double-digit points in three of the final four games.
GC’s top returning rebounder is sophomore Jaycie Bowen (Homer) as the rookie pulled in 106 boards a year ago with her 4.4 points per contest, and will be counted on for more productivity this season. Senior point guard Kenyatta Storms (Alpharetta) will look to guide the offense again, and stands just outside the top-10 in career assists at Georgia College.
In the PBC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Bobcats were positioned 12th.
Due to concerns from COVID-19, the Bobcats have condensed this season to a sprint of 16 conference matchups set to run until Feb. 27. No spectators are allowed at Saturday’s matchup, follow the action with livestats and video at GCBobcats.com.
