VALDOSTA, Ga. – Bobcat men’s cross country raced their way to a fourth-place team finish at the annual VSU Border Clash hosted by Valdosta State University Friday.

Georgia College posted a score of 82, slotting in behind the University of Tampa, PBC-foe Flagler College and Valdosta State. Seven runners for the Bobcats posted a total time of 2:07:53 on the 7.25k course, with three runners claiming a top-10 finish.

In his first return to the course since his record finish at the 2018 Division II Championship, Collin Silliman (Douglasville) led the way for the Bobcats in fifth place, barely edging out senior teammate Shawn Olmstead (Buford), who finished sixth.

Silliman posted a time of 24:41, while Olmstead snuck in just a second behind at 24:42. Olmstead greatly improved on a 20th place finish a season ago, shaving off nearly a whole minute from his 7.25K course time.

True freshman Jack Rhodes (Roswell) finished eighth in his first collegiate race, crossing the line at the 24:59 mark. Lance Underwood (Blairsville), James Carter (Martinez), Matt Rogel (Sautron, France), Thomas Hall (Fayetteville) rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats.

On Tuesday, Silliman was named the Peach Belt Conference’s Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for his efforts at the VSU Border Clash.

Georgia College returns to action Saturday, Sept. 14 in Gainesville, Florida, competing in the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida. Race time is scheduled for a 7:55 a.m. start.
