TUCSON, Ariz. — Georgia College baseball’s corner infield slugger Tanner Giesel (2015-16) had a breakthrough season for the Bobcats in 2016, and his success continues onto the pro level with the Tucson Saguaros of the Independent Pecos League.

Geisel has been with Tucson for nearly a month, playing in 14 games with a .377 batting average, two home runs, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored. The Saguaros are 26-7 on the year, good for first place in the Pecos South Division.

Owning a two-year Bobcat career that includes one of the most impressive turnarounds in school history, Geisel improved his batting average by nearly 100 points from his junior to senior season. As a senior he played both first and third base, finishing with a .339 batting average, 13 home runs and 51 RBIs, scoring 39 runs as well. Geisel finished 10th in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) in home runs and 11th in slugging at .589 this season.
