Baldwin head coach Jesse Hicks talks with his players at the end of Tuesday’s practice. The Braves are a little more than a week away from taking the field for their first and only preseason scrimmage, and will open the regular season Saturday, Aug. 24, against Washington County at Mercer.

The 2019 Baldwin High School football team will have a different look from a year ago, and it’s not just because the Braves will be without last year’s graduating seniors.

Head coach Jesse Hicks has something new in store for the reigning Region 3-4A champs as brand new uniforms just came in this week. Hicks is inviting supporters to come out and get an exclusive first glimpse of how the team will look when it takes the field for competition this season. A uniform reveal is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Baldwin County Board of Education office on North ABC Street. The event will take place inside the big boardroom located in the bottom level of the building.

Those who attend will also be able to purchase advance tickets to the Braves’ regular season opener against Washington County, set for Saturday, Aug. 24, at Mercer University’s Five Star Stadium in Macon. The Braves and Golden Hawks will square off as part of the Macon Touchdown Club’s annual Kickoff Classic. Fans can save a couple of bucks by purchasing in advance as those tickets are selling for $10, but they will be $12 the day of the game at the stadium. All money raised from presales stays with Baldwin High School and will benefit the student-athletes while the regular gate will be split amongst the participating schools and event organizers.
