SANDERSVILLE, Ga. — A 28-year-old Jefferson County woman was killed in a head-on collision in Washington County on Sunday afternoon, local and state authorities say.
The crash also seriously injured two other people.
The driver of the car believed responsible for the crash is suspected of driving while impaired by alcohol, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The crash, which happened on Ga. Route 231 near McCoy Pond Road, also seriously injured the driver of the other car, according to information released by Sgt. First Class Kevin Pope, commander of the Georgia State Patrol post in Milledgeville.
The victim killed in the crash was identified as Janesha Shanae Little, of the 300 block of Speering Street, Wrens.
Little, the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze, was pronounced dead on the scene after firefighters/first responders and emergency medical personnel arrived at the crash site.
A passenger in Little’s car, Broadrikus Jenkins, received serious injuries in the crash. He was taken by ambulance to an Augusta hospital.
The driver of the other car, meanwhile, a Honda Accord, also was seriously injured.
He was identified as Charles Moss.
Authorities said Moss was treated at the scene of the crash by first responders and later flown by medical helicopter to an Augusta hospital.
Moss, who was not restrained by a seat belt, was listed in serious, but stable condition Monday.
“The driver of the Honda Accord was traveling north on Ga. 231 and crossed the centerline into the southbound lanes,” according to Trooper First Class Willie Stephens, who investigated the fatal crash.
The wreck also is being investigated by Trooper Patrick Prosser, a member of the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT).
Moss is suspected of being impaired by alcohol and charges are pending, according to the state patrol.
