A domestic dispute between a married couple Tuesday night in Baldwin County resulted in the man being stabbed and authorities arresting both the husband and wife on criminal charges.

The couple was identified as Douglas Keith Grimes, 62, and Angela Faye Grimes, 52, both of  the 100 block of Old Stage Road, Milledgeville, according to an incident report filed by Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kimberly Kile.

Douglas Grimes was charged with felony battery under the Georgia Family Violence Act, while his wife, Angela, was charged with simple assault under the same state statute, records show.

The couple was taken to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center and jailed. Douglas Grimes received treatment for his injury before being placed in a cell.

Kile said in her report that she was dispatched about 9 p.m. to a residence on the 100 block of Old Stage Road S.W. to a domestic dispute that involved a knife.

The dispatcher said a woman called to report the incident and that she had overheard that her mother had stabbed her father with a knife.

Kile said when she got to the residence, she found Douglas Grimes walking out of the residence with a bandage on his left forearm.

Grimes reportedly told the deputy that his wife had stabbed him with a pocketknife, according to the incident report.

Kile said she and Deputy Benjamin Forbus talked with Douglas Grimes about what had happened, while Deputy Brandon Towe talked with Angela Grimes.

Douglas Grimes said he was cutting back Palmetto plants for a neighbor and that his neighbor paid him for his services with a 20-ounce can of beer. Kile said Grimes returned home with the beer and made himself something to eat. He said his wife walked into a room with a pocketknife and threatened to kill him, Kill said.

Douglas Grimes told the deputy his wife began yelling at him shortly before she stabbed him.

Kile said Angela Grimes later admitted that she stabbed her husband.

The deputy said Angela Grimes told her that her husband had returned home drunk and began calling her names.

“She advised she wasn’t going to take any more of that behavior and stabbed him with her knife,” Kile said. “Mrs. Angela Grimes also advised Mr. Grimes grabbed her right wrist and caused bruises and scratches to her legs.”
