EATONTON, Ga. — A vacant double-wide mobile home that caught fire last Thursday afternoon was deliberately set, local and state authorities say.
No one was injured in the fire that started about 4 p.m. on April 22.
The structure was located on Dennis Station Road, off Twin Bridges Road.
Built back in 1996, the double-wide mobile home had been undergoing repair work and was up for sale at the time of the fire, according to a press release from the office of Georgia Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire.
When firefighters from Putnam County Fire Rescue Services arrived on the scene, they found flames coming from the right side of the structure, State Commissioner John King said.
“It was determined that the fire originated at the entry/exit door of the residence and was intentionally set,” King said in the press release.
The fire remains under investigation by the county fire officials, as well as the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Georgia Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire Investigator’s Unit at 1-800-282-5804. The state hotline number is available 24-hours a day.
