UPDATE: 5:09 p.m.

A 35-year-old Milledgeville woman was killed instantly after being hit by a semi-truck while standing in the roadway in the Harrisburg neighborhood of Milledgeville on Friday morning. 

The victim was nude at the time local and state authorities received a call about the accident.

It happened shortly before 5 a.m., according to Baldwin County Deputy Coroner Steve Chapple.

Chapple identified the victim as Kimberly Ivey.

Ivey was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:15 a.m., Chapple said.

The deputy coroner said Ivey died from blunt force trauma and that an autopsy would not be performed.

It was several hours before the victim was identified.

Chapple said he talked with members of the victim’s family to establish her identity.

The driver of the truck was traveling south on Irwinton Road near Pineway Drive while the victim was standing in the left lane of the southbound lane and was subsequently struck by the 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck, according to Sgt. First Class Robbie Roberson, commander of the Georgia State Patrol post in Milledgeville.

Roberson said the death was investigated by an assigned trooper with the local post, as well as by Trooper Patrick Prosser, who is assigned to the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT).

Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office assisted troopers with directing traffic in the area of where the pedestrian was struck and killed, Roberson said.

UPDATE: 11 a.m.

A woman was killed after she reportedly was standing in the roadway and was struck by an oncoming semi-truck near the intersection of Irwinton Road and Pineway Drive. 

The victim was nude, authorities say.

She was struck at 5:09 a.m., according to Sgt. First Class Robbie Roberson, commander of the Georgia State Patrol post in Milledgeville.

The driver of the truck was traveling south on Irwinton Road near Pineway Drive while the woman, who was not wearing any clothing, was standing in the left lane of the southbound lane and was subsequently struck by the 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck, Roberson told The Union-Recorder.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.

Baldwin County Deputy Coroner Steve Chapple is working the case.

The death remains under investigation by Trooper Patrick Prosser, who is assigned to the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT).

9:10 a.m.

A woman was struck and killed Friday morning after stepping into the path of an oncoming 18-wheeler in the Harrisburg neighborhood, according to Sgt. Robbie Roberson, post commander of the Milledgeville Georgia State Patrol Post.

The accident happened around 5 a.m. Friday.

The victim’s name has not been made public.
