UPDATE 8:30 p.m. 9/16/20

A 26-year-old Milledgeville man has been arrested and charged in the death of a local woman. 

Clemmon Jamar Hunt was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with felony murder, according to a press release issued by the Milledgeville Police Department. 

Earlier Wednesday, authorities responded to a call in reference to a body, believed to be female, discovered in a heavily wooded area near the 300 block of Doles Boulevard. 

The cause of death remains unknown, however, the investigation into the homicide is ongoing. 

The body will be turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab to determine cause of death, according to the press release.  

“We believe the body to be Latorra Michelle Tillman, 33 years of age, of Milledgeville Ga. We are waiting on the crime lab to confirm that.” Tillman was entered as a missing person by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 9. 

UPDATE 6:40 p.m. 9/16/20

A homicide investigation is now underway in Milledgeville after a body, believed to be female, was discovered Wednesday afternoon several hundred yards behind a duplex on Doles Boulevard, according to Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord. 

A suspect was taken into custody around 6 p.m. The suspect has not been named but he was taken in for questioning, according to Swicord. 

The body has not been identified.

Five detectives have been assigned to the case and are expected to be on the scene working for the next several hours. 

The area is cordoned off by law enforcement officers. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. 

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are made available.
