(8 p.m.) Fire disrupted operations at the Zschimmer & Schwarz, Inc. plant located at the intersection of Ga. Route 22 and Britt Waters Road in Baldwin County on Monday night. Firefighters from Milledgeville Fire Rescue, as well as Baldwin County Fire Rescue responded immediately to the reports of flames coming from one end of the building. Employees and management personnel quickly evacuated the plant and awaited the arrival of firefighters. The fire is believed to have broken out about 6:30 p.m. The cause of the blaze sent smoke coming from various locations of the plant, including offices. Deputies and a detective with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office assisted firefighters with traffic safety along the busy highway directly in front of the plant. Zschimmer & Schwarz, Inc., an international firm, supplies a wide variety of industries with tailor-made chemical auxiliaries and specialties, according to the company’s website. (7:21 p.m.): Firefighters with Milledgeville Fire Rescue and Baldwin County Fire Rescue are on the scene of a fire at the Zschimmer & Schwarz plant in Milledgeville.
The fire broke out about 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The manufacturing facility is located across from the Milledgeville Coca-Cola plant, off Britt Waters Road and Ga. Highway 22.
