UPDATE 3:27 p.m.:
Local and state law enforcement authorities are investigating the homicide of a 27-year-old Milledgeville man whose body was found Friday morning inside a car in a neighborhood off Vinson Highway.
The victim had been shot multiple times, according to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Detective Capt. Brad King, who heads the criminal investigations division.
Baldwin County Coroner John Gonzalez identified the victim as Lamarcus “Marc” Brown.
Authorities are reaching out to the public for any information they believe might help solve the case.
“Anybody that knows anything about his (Brown’s) whereabouts in the past 24 hours would be helpful to us at this time,” King said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 9 a.m. by Baldwin County Chief Deputy Coroner Ken Garland.
An autopsy to determine the exact cause of Brown’s death is scheduled sometime soon at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory in Macon, Gonzalez said.
Brown, who worked at a local Dollar General Store, was found slumped over in a seat of a Nissan Altima about 8 a.m. by a passerby, according to King. The detective said the victim was believed to have been shot several hours before his body was discovered in the car, which was partially in the roadway near the intersection of Davis Drive and Jackson Street.
Anyone with information that might help local and state authorities is asked to call the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 478-445-5102 or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 6 Office in Milledgeville at 478-445-4173.
