The Crazy Chic

Another dining option is joining the greater downtown area in Milledgeville. Plans are underway to open The Crazy Chic at 620 N. Jefferson St. in the building most recently occupied by Dairylane.

Managing partners Michael Taylor and Ben Cook are branching into their fourth establishment in the downtown area in just under two years. The pair have already made their mark on downtown by opening The Reel Grill in March 2019 and both Ned Kelly’s Down Under and The Fat Squirrel earlier this year. The concept for the new restaurant, however, is one that has been on Taylor’s mind for some time.

“Since 2015, I have been following the success of Guthrie’s Chicken and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. I admired the simplicity of their menu and concept,” said Taylor. “Before discovering our beautiful location for The Reel Grill in 2018, I was actively searching for the perfect spot for a chicken finger restaurant.”

Taylor thinks he and Cook have finally found that perfect spot. With its proximity to two college campuses, he said he feels the potential for success is in their favor.

“I feel that our location being so close to Georgia College and GMC will serve us well,” said Taylor. “I also believe that we will succeed because we are one of the closest restaurants for the students with a drive-thru window.”

The Crazy Chic will offer a menu including a chicken fingers plate, chicken sandwiches and chicken salad. On Fridays, The Crazy Chic will also serve up fried fish baskets. Work is underway to clean and change the signage at the former Dairylane in preparation for a December opening.

“We would like to open in the middle of December while the students are on break in order to work out any kinks that may occur before they return in January,” said Taylor.

The Crazy Chic will be open for drive-thru and takeout service Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. with extended drive-thru hours planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Taylor hopes that the reputation he and Cook have established through their other businesses will help The Crazy Chic to easily find a foothold among diners in Milledgeville.

“Just as our loyal customers at The Reel Grill, Ned Kelly’s Down Under and The Fat Squirrel have experienced, plan on a quality product, exceptional service and a clean establishment when you visit The Crazy Chic,” said Taylor, adding, “Get ready for the best chicken fingers that you have ever tasted.”
