Recent drive-by shootings in Gordon under investigation

GORDON, Ga. — Local and state law enforcement authorities are investigating three recent drive-by shootings within the city limits of the small town of Gordon in Wilkinson County, The Union-Recorder has learned.

Two of the shootings happened within minutes of each other on Saturday, Aug. 12.
A 15-year-old was wounded in the first shooting, according to Mary Chandler, special agent in-charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 6 Office in Milledgeville. Chandler said the first shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim. The teen was treated at the scene by firefighters/first responders and emergency medical personnel. He later was taken by ambulance to Atrium Health Navicent, The Medical Center in Macon.
Less than an hour later, gunshots erupted on Menton Street in Gordon. Chandler said no one reportedly was wounded in the second shooting.
A third drive-by shooting happened on Monday night, Aug. 14, on Harberson Walker Road in Gordon, Chandler said in a Monday telephone interview. No one was reportedly injured.
Chandler said GBI agents were called to assist deputies and investigators with the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Gordon Police Department.

No one had been arrested as of Monday afternoon in either of the shootings.
The investigations of all three shootings remain active and ongoing, Chandler said.
