North Central Health District (NCHD) will move to scheduling individuals in Phase 1A+ for COVID-19 vaccination beginning Monday, Jan. 11. Those that are eligible for vaccination in this group include:
•Health care providers
◦This group includes paid and unpaid people serving in a healthcare setting who have the potential for direct exposure to patients or infectious materials and includes, but is no limited to: physicians, nurses, dentists, laboratory workers, environmental services, EMS, fire department that provides health services, etc.
•Employees and residents of long-term care facilities
•Adults age 65 and older and their caregivers (caregivers as applicable)
•Law enforcement, fire personnel (including volunteer fire departments), dispatchers and 911 operators
Vaccination of health care workers is currently underway across the 13-county district and will continue after eligibility opens to the new groups.
“We’re expecting many members of our communities to call and schedule appointments,” said Sabine Biabe A Som, NCHD Immunization coordinator. “Right now, the amount of vaccine available to us will not meet the immediate demand. We continue to ask for patience as vaccine supply improves to meet our needs.”
Those that are eligible can begin scheduling appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through public health. Individuals in Phase 1A+ can call 1-844-987-0099 to schedule appointments beginning Monday, Jan. 11. Anyone that schedules an appointment for vaccination will be required to show workplace identification or a valid ID as proof of affiliation or age before vaccination.
At this moment, NCHD has scheduled appointments for healthcare workers in the initial Phase 1A through January. Vaccine is in high demand and individuals calling to schedule an appointment should not expect to receive a COVID-19 vaccine immediately. In addition to public health, pharmacies, doctors’ offices and other healthcare providers are also enrolled as COVID-19 vaccine providers, and may be offering vaccine in your area.
Vaccination appointments are available Mondays through Saturdays. Vaccine will be provided by appointment at drive-thru points of distribution. Only those with an appointment will be allowed at these locations. Do not call the local health department for an appointment - vaccination is not conducted at all county health departments at this time.
