A new herbal supplement boutique stocked with helpful and healing products, Your CBD Store, is now open at 2485 N. Columbia St., Suite 104.
The store carries the all-natural SunMed products including bath bombs, pain creams, lip balm, skin care products, oil tinctures, water-soluble additives, gummies, soft gel capsules and E-liquids for vaping — all containing the Hemp-based Cannabidiol (CBD) compound.
According to store owner Steve Davis, SunMed products are made from the highest quality industrial hemp and contain zero percent of the high-inducing THC compound. He said the company’s process for extraction results in a product that is rich in concentrated cannabinoids. Following the removal of THC, SunMed introduces a proprietary blend of plant-based terpenes known to increase the efficiency of the product.
“The company’s products are grown in Colorado using organic processes and are non-GMO,” said Davis. “Our company is unique in that it follows the products from the field to processing to packaging — all steps are monitored by third-party industry professionals for the best quality product.”
The store is spa-like with sky-blue walls, comfortable seating, and clean lines of décor. Store manager, Renee Nation, is highly trained and knowledgeable about all the products carried in the brick and motor shop and the online store.
Nation acknowledges that CBD has not been approved by the FDA for treatment of any condition, but she believes that the product can help manage the discomforts of several ailments.
“My family and I take this product and know that it has helped us with pain management,” she said. “My husband takes the oral tincture for pain in his rotator cuff, and he has been amazed at the relief he has experienced.”
According to the SunMed website, CBD is used to provide relief of conditions where traditional medications are ineffective. The site acknowledges that scientific studies of CBD are small in scale, but independent studies show data and evidence to its effectiveness. The company claims that its products may improve chronic pain and depression and anxiety as well as symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, cancer and schizophrenia.
“CBD is basically an anti-inflammatory product that may reduce pain from a wide range of conditions including arthritis, fibromyalgia, and general aches and pains,” said Davis. “Multiple studies have found CBD to be beneficial with both getting rid of pain and anti-inflammatory effects.”
Regarding helping mental illness, SunMed states independent studies on animals have shown CBD to be able to provide faster relief to the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and even schizophrenia, than pharmaceuticals currently on the market.
Some cancer patients have utilized cannabis products for decades to help ease the side effects of chemotherapy. SunMed states that some studies have found that introducing CBD has shrunk some cancerous tumors. The company admits the studies are very preliminary; mice with pancreatic cancer that received CBD developed an increase in survival rates nearly three times those that went without the compound.
The store provides samples of the pain cream and oral tinctures to those clients wanting to try the product before purchase. The tinctures are made with fruity flavors, including strawberry lime and pina colada. Prices for the CBD products start at $10 for gummies and go up to $300 for the more exclusive merchandise.
