An arrest has been made in the shooting death of 16-year-old Cuatez Jones.
Dequanis Jamon Parks was arrested early Tuesday morning in Newton County, according to a press release issued by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Parks is currently en route to the Baldwin County jail where he will be held without bond, according to the release.
Parks was arrested with the assistance of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force without incident.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has assisted with securing evidence related to the case. All evidence will be transferred to BCSO for processing.
“Detectives with the Covington Police Department have worked closely with our investigators and provided much needed information throughout this investigation,” the press release states.
Warrants taken out against Parks are in connection with the shooting death of Cuatez Jones on June 20.
Jones was shot multiple times.
He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, by Baldwin County Coroner John Gonzalez.
