EATONTON, Ga. — A 28-year-old Butts County man was seriously injured when his motorcycle slammed head-on into an SUV Wednesday morning on Old Pheonix Road near Wards Chapel Road in Putnam County, local authorities say.
Putnam County Sheriff Howard R. Sills identified the man as Michael Scott Beck, of Jackson.
Beck was treated at the scene by firefighters/first responders with Putnam County Fire Rescue and personnel with the Putnam County Emergency Medical Services. He later was flown from the scene by an AirEvac helicopter to The Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon.
Sills said Beck was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson at the time of the crash.
The sheriff said Beck illegally passed the driver of an 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck on a double-yellow line and a short time later collided with a 2011 Kia Rio driven by Sabrina Moss Jernigan, 37, of Greensboro.
The wreck, which was investigated by deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, happened at 7:37 a.m.
