A 47-year-old Milledgeville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night in Baldwin County, local and state authorities say.
The wreck happened on Ga. Route 24 near Anderson Drive shortly before 8:30 p.m.
The wreck claimed the life of Bobby Joe Goins, of the 100 block of Meir Circle S.E., according to Baldwin County Deputy Coroner Steve Chapple.
The deputy coroner said Goins was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chapple, who was assisted at the wreck scene by Baldwin County Coroner John Gonzalez, said the victim died of blunt force trauma.
The victim was thrown out of a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck, according to a report by Trooper Kevin Kirby of the Georgia State Patrol post in Milledgeville.
Goins was traveling northbound on Ga. Route 24 before the crash happened.
Kirby, who was assisted in investigating the crash by Trooper Willie Stephens, said Goins crossed the white fog line and then left the roadway.
“The driver attempted to drive back onto the roadway and lost control,” Kirby said in his report.
Goins re-entered the roadway and began rotating counter-clockwise, the trooper said.
The pickup truck later crossed the centerline and the fog line before it left the roadway traveling north, but facing south, according to the wreck report.
The investigating trooper said the pickup truck struck a fence with its right side before it overturned.
