For the second time in three years, the name of the hospital in Milledgeville and Baldwin County is changing.
Navicent Health Baldwin will soon change to Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin, according to Todd Dixon, chief executive officer of Navicent Health Baldwin hospital in Milledgeville.
Dixon made the announcement while speaking at Wednesday morning’s Eggs & Issues breakfast meeting of the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce. The breakfast meeting was held at Central Georgia Technical College’s Milledgeville campus.
Navicent Health, which is headquartered in Macon, purchased the local hospital back in 2017 when it was known back then as Oconee Regional Medical Center.
Since then, Navicent Health has invested more than $10 million into the local hospital, including several capital improvements. Management personnel at the hospital also formed a new nursing partnership with Georgia College during that time.
Atrium Health, based in Charlotte, N.C. and formerly known as Carolinas Healthcare System, purchased Navicent Health and acquired all of their other assets, including the local hospital, and the hospital in Peach County.
“For nearly two years, people throughout central and south Georgia have enjoyed the health benefits of Navicent Health’s strategic combination with Atrium Health,” according to a statement issued by Megan Allen, public relations manager of Navicent Health. “This has included greater access to specialists, new innovations in virtual care, and the ability to tap directly into specialized resources that we have been able to use to enhance countless lives. As part of our continuing integration, we are continuing to explore how we can better align with and leverage the Atrium Health enterprise brand and its resources as we grow and serve patients and communities together.”
Allen said hospital officials look forward to sharing more information soon.
