A Milledgeville location of McAlister’s Deli plans to open its doors early next year, barring any construction setbacks. The restaurant will be located on Roberson Mill Road.

Updated to add more details about the new location.

The restaurantization of Milledgeville continues.

A new McAlister’s Deli franchise location is on its way to town the company confirmed to The Union-Recorder Monday. The soup, salad, sandwich and baked potato restaurant is eyeing a February 2020 opening date and will be located on Roberson Mill Road near Applebee’s.

“Dates may change due to fluctuations in construction,” McAlister’s communications manager Angie Champsaur told the newspaper via email. “The franchisee will start recruiting for open roles when it gets closer to the opening date.”

Champsaur says about 50 team members will be hired to operate the Milledgeville McAlister's. The restaurant will stand by itself, not part of a retail strip, and feature patio seating as well as a pick-up window. It will seat 100 customers.

Construction crews are currently working on the restaurant’s future site, which will be between Applebee’s and the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store just across Roberson Mill Road from the Milledgeville Mall.

The new location in Milledgeville will be in a smaller market than where most McAlister’s Delis can be found in Georgia. There are currently several in the Atlanta and Augusta areas, and the closest one to Milledgeville can be found in Macon.

According to the company’s website, there are currently more than 400 McAlister’s locations in 28 states. The first location, in Oxford, Miss., opened its doors in 1989.
