Joie Elaine McCluney

A 39-year-old Macon woman was arrested a short time after she reportedly fired gunshots inside her ex-husband’s mobile home in Baldwin County on Tuesday morning, local authorities say.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

The suspect was identified as Joie Elaine McCluney, of the 900 block of Hill Park, according to an incident report filed by Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brandon Clements.

McCluney was charged with one count of aggravated assault under the Georgia Family Violence Act, records show.

McCluney was taken to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center where she was jailed.

The shooting happened at the residence of 43-year-old Dudley McCluney on the 100 block of McCollough Road, Clements said in his report. The incident happened sometime between 9:40 and 10:02 a.m.

Clements said he received a call in reference to a domestic dispute involving a gun.

The deputy said when he got to the residence that he talked with the victim’s mother, who said she went to her son’s residence to get him to go to the doctor with her Tuesday morning and when she arrived she saw her ex-daughter-in-law.

Cleveland said her son told her that his ex-wife was in the process of leaving the residence.

Instead, though, Joie McCluney reportedly went into her ex-husband’s bedroom, grabbed a loaded pistol and came back out into the living room where she fired a couple of shots at him.

The woman said she was standing in the kitchen and her son was standing in the living room when the shots rang out.

She said her son immediately jumped over the couch. Seconds later, Dudley McCluney reportedly tackled his ex-wife while his mother ran outside and called 911 call for help.

The victim said his ex-wife showed up at his residence shortly before the shooting incident. He said he didn’t know how she got there, only that she was not supposed to be there.

McCluney said he asked his ex-wife to leave multiple times, but she refused.

A short time later, the victim said his mother arrived.

Clements said the victim told him that his ex-wife grabbed a pistol that he keeps attached to his bed, fired two shots at him, but after tackling her in the living room he was able to get the gun away from her.
