A Milledgeville man is enjoying a King Kong-sized half-million dollar Georgia Lottery prize. Larry E. Martin played the new instant game King Kong and became the game’s first $500,000 top prize winner.

Martin says he scratched the ticket in a restaurant while eating breakfast.

“I could see the zeros,” he exclaims.

Jet Food Store #0055, located at 206 Roberson Mill Rd. in Milledgeville, sold the winning ticket.

According to Martin, 49, he may purchase a new home, and he plans to take his wife on a vacation.

“I think ‘m going to do what I try to do everyday,” Martin added. “I’m going to try to help people who really need some helping out.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
