Putnam County commissioners are only days away from moving forward with a new road connecting Twin Bridges and Bluegill roads.

District 1 Commissioner Wesley Willis, who oversees county public works projects, said he anticipates the consulting engineering firm will complete its survey for the new road within a week.

Once the survey is complete, the commissioners will begin acquiring the right of way for the new route.

The new route is similar to an earlier route proposed by the Hemenway family who owns property that the road would cross and who opposed the original route.
