Baldwin County Commissioners will hold a public hearing today at 6 p.m. on the county’s 2008 fiscal year budget.

The county has budget funds for operating during the upcoming year without an increase on the millage, according to County Manager Joan Minton.

County officials will present details on several items on the budget during tonight’s hearing and following public meeting, Minton said.

“The state mandated changes to courthouse security, the rising fuel costs and how that affects transportation and construction and the future opening of the soccer field and track, which will add additional maintenance costs, are some of the major highlights in changes in the budget,” Minton said. “We basically had to slash the budget to the bone to fund those items, stay within the current revenues and to have no tax increase.
