Christopher Jessie Brown

The Milledgeville Police Department is actively seeking information that will help lead to the arrest of a local man who is considered armed and dangerous.

Christopher Jessie Brown, 26, is being sought for allegedly committing several violent offenses within a week's time, starting on April 24 and ending last Friday.

"On April 24, Brown went into the Jiffy Lube after seeing his ex-girlfriend at the location. While he was there, words were exchanged between Brown and an employee from Jiffy Lube," said Maj. Reggie Hill, MPD Criminal Investigations commander.

Brown then pulled out a handgun, threatening to use it along with another firearm inside his vehicle.

"Brown fled the location before law enforcement could arrive on scene. Warrants were secured charging Brown with terroristic threats and acts and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon," Hill added.

The next incident took place at a local restaurant on South Elbert Street

Around 7:43 p.m. on Friday Brown entered the Shrimp Boat, located in the 900 block of South Elbert Street., and allegedly made suicidal threats.

Brown asked to speak with a female friend that was working inside the restaurant at the time.

After she declined to give him her vehicle, he allegedly pulled out a handgun and placed it inside his mouth, threatening to take his own life.

"The young lady went back inside and informed her manager of the incident that unfolded. By the time law enforcement arrived on scene, Brown had once eluded capture," Hill said.

Minutes later at about 7:59 p.m., MPD officers responded to the 500 block of South Warren Street, in response to an armed robbery of a motor vehicle.

While at the location, officers learned that a white male with a handgun flagged the victim down, demanding the vehicle.

"The victim was forced to move over to the passenger’s side of the vehicle as the gunman demanded his phone. The victim was able to flee out the passenger’s side door as the suspect fumbled with the phone," Hill added.

The suspect’s description given to police by the victim matched Brown’s description.

"Fortunately in this case, the victim was able to flee without being harmed. A statewide alert was issued for the stolen vehicle and the apprehension of Christopher Jessie Brown, ‘AKA CJ’.”

For the incident that occurred on South Warren Street, Brown has been charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and high-jacking of a motor vehicle, Hill said.

All law enforcement agencies pulled together to assist MPD with the search.

Authorities with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) assisted MPD in the search for Brown at his last known location.

Also assisting MPD were officials from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the Georgia Department of Correction and the Department of Natural Resources.

"We needed to find this guy in a bad way," Hill said.

"Suddenly, Lt. Steve McDade located the vehicle in the 100 block of Stembridge Road between 10 and 11 p.m. Once the vehicle was located, we received assistance from GSP, DNR, Georgia Department of Correction K-9 Unit and GSP Aviation. We were out for quite some time but were unable to locate the suspect."

Anyone with information on the location of Christopher Jessie Brown, is asked to call the Milledgeville Police Department at 478-414-4000.

Brown is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous, Hill said.
