Detectives with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Milledgeville couple Friday after investigating complaints of inappropriate behavior between the management and staff at a local business, authorities say.
Chris and Joni Martin, who are married, are part-owners of Ole’ Chobys restaurant near Lake Sinclair on North Columbia Street in Milledgeville.
The couple were charged with one count each of sexual battery, according to a press release issued Friday afternoon by Detective Capt. Brad King, who heads the sheriff’s office criminal investigations division. The charges are misdemeanors.
The charges stem from a pair of separate incidents in which female staff members reportedly were touched in a sexual nature without authority or consent, according to the press release. The office was contacted about a week ago about the reported acts.
King said the investigation is continuing and a number of interviews are expected to be conducted in the next few days.
King said additional charges may be forthcoming as the probe continues.
The couple remained jailed in the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center Friday night.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents or similar behavior is asked to contact the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at 478-445-4893.
