Goodwill of Middle Georgia opened a new retail training store Thursday at 1831 N. Columbia Street in Milledgeville. The new location is down the street from Goodwill’s Job Connection career center. The store is open at 10 a.m.
Hours of operation for donations and shopping are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Retail training stores are the primary source of funding for Goodwill’s nonprofit mission to build lives, families and communities one career at a time. Eighty-six cents of every dollar earned funds training, education, career counseling and employment assistance for those facing barriers to employment.
“When the federal unemployment payments cease, we anticipate a wave of unemployed people will need our retail and career services more than ever,” said Jim Stiff, president and CEO of Goodwill of the local Goodwill. “Every donation and every purchase help provide a hand up for people who have been impacted by the pandemic. As a new marketplace emerges, Goodwill stands ready to help people launch sustainable careers that will provide economic security for their families in these uncertain times.”
The Goodwill career center is located just up the road from the new Goodwill training store at 2596 N. Columbia St. It is open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will return to regular hours weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 27.
