Georgia Power employees are making a difference in their community while many continue to work remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Milledgeville chapter of Citizens of Georgia Power – the employee volunteer arm of the company – recently provided donations to Café Central and Lori’s Wildlife Rehab.
Since 2009, Café Central has served the community of Milledgeville with weekly meals. Georgia Power employees donated dry and canned milk, canned fruit and small bags of meal and flour to the nonprofit. Employees also donated boxes of blankets and towels to local wildlife rehabber Lori Morgan. Morgan cares for squirrels, opossums, racoons, and any wild animals that is too young or hurt to care for itself.
With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
