Milledgeville Police Department
A Walmart employee flagged down an officer on June 13 and stated that a man walking across the parking lot left the store without paying for items. The officer spoke with the man, who was later identified, and had him step out of his vehicle. The man said that the items in his bag were from another store and he brought them into Walmart. It was later discovered that the man had an outstanding warrant in Jones County. He was detained and searched. A bass knob was discovered in his left front pocket along with a pack of cigarettes that smelled of marijuana and a baggie of what was believed to be marijuana. A metal case was discovered in his back pocket along with a small amount of a clear, white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. He was arrested and placed in a patrol vehicle. Inside the vehicle the man was in, the officer discovered two packs of cookies, a screwdriver, a bass amplifier and a phone cord, valued at a total of $81.68. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center where he was charged with theft by shoplifting and possession of methamphetamine.
