The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Milledgeville Police Department

Fraud

An officer spoke with a man on Aug. 31, who stated that he logged onto his banking account online and noticed that the account was overdrawn by $49,000. He said the day before, he noticed AT&T had completed his automatic draft. He thought the draft was suspicious because he did not have enough money in the account to pay the bill. The officer advised the man to get an affidavit and proof of the activity on his account. The man said he spoke with his bank branch manager and was informed that $13,000 had been deposited into this account and withdrawn minutes later. The branch manager refused to provide the affidavit for the fraudulent activity because the transactions contained someone else’s personal information. The mad said he would speak with police again once he spoke further with bank personnel.

Criminal trespass

An officer spoke with personnel at the Relax Inn, located on Heritage Road, about a man sleeping in a room at the motel, which has been closed due to a fire. The officer went to the suspected room and observed that someone had kicked in part of the wall. The man observed someone inside the room sleeping in the bed. The officer spoke with the man, who said that he was homeless and needed a place to stay. The man was detained and charged with criminal trespass.
