The following is information compiled from public records of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative. 

Milledgeville Police Department 

Simple Battery 

An officer was dispatched Sept. 1 to Buffington’s on West Hancock Street. The officer spoke with a woman who said that she was sitting at the bar with her friend when an employee came over and told her she needed to leave. The woman said while speaking with the employee, another woman came over and punched her in the face. The officer observed dried blood on the woman’s noice and an irritation around her upper lip. The officer spoke with another woman who said that her roommate did not hit the woman, she only confronted her about a previous incident, which took place Saturday, Aug. 29. Video footage from Buffington’s bar will be secured and viewed at a later date. Charges are pending upon completion of further investigation. 

Theft by Taking

An officer met with a man on Sept. 4 in reference to someone stealing the wheels to his truck from a location in the 600 block of West Franklin Street. The man said he had four RAM wheels sitting outside his house and that they were taken someone between Sep. 3 and Sept. 4. He said he paid $300 for the wheels. 

Aggravated Assault

An officer spoke with a man on Sept. 4 who said that three or four men pointed guns at him and tried to run him over. The man said he was in his yard when a small, four-door red vehicle pulled up to his mailbox and a passenger called his name. He said he walked up to the vehicle and two passengers brandished guns and pointed them at him. He said the driver pulled the vehicle into his yard, accelerated toward him and ran over his right foot. The officer observed. Tire mark on his right foot, but he declined EMS service. The man could not provide a better description of the vehicle. He said the men all were wearing hats but he did not recognize them. 

Theft by Shoplifting

An officer met with a man at CVS, located in the 900 block of North Columbia Street. The man said a man wearing a Burgundy shirt and black sweat pants stole some Tide Pods from the store. He said employees suspected that the man had shoplifted there before. The employee told the man he knew he was stealing and asked for the items to be handed over. The man then started walking toward the door, eventually the male fled eastbound on foot down Martin Luther King Drive. After totaling the four packages of detergent the total amount of goods was $36.33. 

Theft by Taking

An officer spoke with a woman on Sept. 4 who said that someone took her grill off a table on her front porch at her Thomas Street residence. She stated she did not know what brand her grill was, she only knew it was worth approximately $40, was round and black.
