Members of the American Legion Post 523 Milledgeville are accepting donations for care packages for men and women stationed overseas. Items being collected include socks, underwear, fingerless gloves, undershirts, caps, towels, as well as books and magazines, pens and pencils, and personal items. The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation will showcase some of Georgia's finest examples of antebellum architecture during The Georgia Trust Expedition: Sparta Renaissance in Sparta and Hancock County on Saturday, Aug. 27. The Georgia Trust Hancock County Expedition is $50 for Georgia Trust members and $60 for non-members and includes lunch and the closing reception. Tour-only tickets that do not include lunch and the closing reception are also available for $25. Walk-up tickets may be purchased the morning of the event at Hancock County Courthouse.
