A resurfacing project from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. The project will involve a portion of state Route 24 (North Columbia Street) to be resurfaced between Montgomery Street and Lakeside Drive. Starting Sunday, Reeves Construction will begin performing milling and asphalt inlay operations nightly, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., in the specified location, for approximately two weeks.

Shawn Davis will host the class ‘Let’s Talk Drip Irrigation’ from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Putnam Co. Extension Office, 663 Godfrey Road, Eatonton. The class will cover how to identify types of fittings, building a system with total automation and expanding an existing system to incorporate drip irrigation. Thursdalusia! is held at Andalusia starting at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month through September: Sept. 15. The open mic evenings will go until sunset and performers get five minutes. Performances will take place on the Nail House deck.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church Helping Hands Society has confirmed their annual Helping Hands Society Fundraiser to be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Georgia College University Banquet Room. A $35 ticket will allow access to bid on a variety of unique items in the silent and live auction, fun games and raffles and delicious food with one free drink ticket. A cash bar will also be available. 6 to 8 p.m.: Milledgeville Main Street presents September First Friday’s Touch-A-Truck event. Heavy equipment horns will sound, first responders’ lights flash, and the young and young at heart will have a chance to satisfy curiosity by getting up close to explore the vehicles. Including everything from fire trucks, an ambulance, tractor, police cars, and “Milly” the Trolley.
