Habitat for Humanity of Milledgeville-Baldwin County (MBCHFH) will hold its first Habitat Yard Sale Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the warehouse behind the Habitat ReStore located at 730 N. Wayne St.

The model of the Habitat Sale is a new initiative proposed by Habitat International and taken on by several affiliates across the country.

“We feel that it will give the community an opportunity to shop merchandise as they come into the store on a monthly basis. If this is a successful sale, then we will continue to shift towards this model,” Habitat Executive Director Murali Thirumal said.

This is the debut sale of the items collected from Skip the Curb, which includes many futons, lamps, refrigerators, microwaves and much more. Many items in the ReStore will also be marked down at special prices.

MBCHFH currently works in partnership with families to build at least one house per year and has built 18 homes since 1994. Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. MBCHFH is supported by donations from churches, businesses and individuals along with the proceeds of the resale store, the ReStore.

New and gently used items for sale in the ReStore are sold at affordable prices and the proceeds support HFH's mission of eliminating substandard housing throughout Milledgeville and Baldwin County.
