Georgia’s newest congressional district will be based in the northeast corner of the state, and Baldwin County’s representation will shift entirely to the 10th district based on the new U.S. Congressional map proposal released Monday.

Congressman John Barrow of the 12th District will see his territory shift dramatically, meaning new leadership for the Baldwin County area.

Under the map proposal, Baldwin County will be included in the 10th Congressional district, which will also include counties as far west as Butts, as far south as Johnson, the northern portion of Columbia County and as far north as Clarke and Oglethorpe counties. The 10th district is currently represented by Republican Paul Broun of Athens.
