It looks like a cross between a two-seat helicopter and a go-cart, and Randy Stiles wants to sell you one.

The aircraft is known as an autogyro. It has helicopter-like rotors on top and a forward-thrusting propeller behind the cabin. It runs on a car engine and you can build it in your own backyard.

“The concept has been around since 1923. They even had an autogyro land on the White House lawn in the 1930’s,” he said. “It looks like a helicopter but flies like a fixed-wing.”

Stiles, who sells the aircraft from his dealership, American Autogyro of Atlanta, will be in Milledgeville at the Baldwin County Airport on June 16 and 17 promoting the unique aircraft and answering questions curious residents and potential buyers may have.
