Downtown visitors walking to their favorite shops and restaurants may notice shiny new additions to the sidewalks on Hancock Street and Wayne Street. The city installed 12 new benches and eight trash bins Monday.

The handcrafted black units, designed by the DuMor Company, have the city name inscribed, along with the charter year of Milledgeville. Four of the trash cans have a special seal on the front. Each piece is powder coated and made of steel.

“It’s incredible,” said Heather Holder, interim director of Milledgeville Mainstreet/ The Downtown Development Authority.
