A new company-owned Marathon fueling store is coming to Milledgeville, transforming the intersection of Ga. Route 22 and Roberson Mill Road.

Plans detailing the new store and extra fueling center for semi-trucks were recently discussed at a Milledgeville City Council meeting.

Jeremy Crosby explained the plans during the first reading of Ordinance 0-2504-06, which amends the city of Milledgeville’s Land Development Code to allow for special use.

Crosby and Mike Horne who work at Jones Petroleum Company (JPC) Design and Construction, LLC in Jackson, presented the application to city officials.

The existing Marathon store was operated independently until recently when it closed. The new store will be larger and more modern, offering four new diesel fuel bays with a canopy for semi-truck drivers. The new Marathon fueling store also will provide 24 semi-truck parking spaces.

The new store will be located on the existing property at 206 Roberson Mill Road.

Crosby told city officials the new fueling and convenience store will also include new LED lighting around the building.

Vast improvements are planned at the site, making it easier for semi-truck drivers to turn into the Marathon and for fuel.

Crosby said the new JPC Marathon renovations should be completed in few months and reopen with a much improved store for customers and those passing through en route to other places.
