MILLEDGEVILLE — The first-ever Arts at the Grove Festival and the eighth annual April Fools Bike Ride showcased Central State Hospital Sunday. The festival and ride, coordinated between the Bicycle Club of Milledgeville (BCM) and the Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority (CSHLRA), offered multiple activities and entertainment for children, parents and exercise enthusiasts. This year's ride, co-sponsored by the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce, featured 10-, 29-, 50- and 73-mile route options taking riders through scenic Baldwin, Jones and Wilkinson counties. A free five-mile riding tour of Central State Hospital grounds added to the fun and festive atmosphere. The Georgia College GIVE Center surveyed riders about their experience afterward. Also, all riders and volunteers enjoyed delicious barbecue pulled pork plates cooked by CSHLRA volunteer Bruce Vaughn or veggie barbecue plates of black bean sliders cooked by BCM President Tom Glover. The Arts at the Grove Festival showcased custom creations from local vendors and artists, as well as live music provided by Sounds of the South and the Fall Line Ramblers. Patrons even played disc golf throughout the pecan grove. Gringos and Doughboy Pizza Milledgeville highlighted Sunday's fun in the sun.
