CVB trolley vandalized

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Convention & Visitors Bureau trolley is under assault from unknown vandals.

Two recent Milledgeville Police Department reports offer a small look into the problem.

On Feb. 20, someone broke into the CVB vehicle parked at 200 W. Hancock St. A complainant reported the incident the following Friday morning.

The Historic Trolley Tour driver said the doors were pried open when he arrived at work, according to the report. This makes the third time the doors were treated that way.

The trolley doors wouldn't close either. Nothing “appeared to be missing” according to the report.

MPD found no latent prints due to weather conditions.

Wednesday morning police responded to the CVB again. Vandals stole the trolley's gas cap, license plate and the tag light.

The CVB complainant said the theft could have happened Monday or Tuesday. Damage costs are $125.

Maj. Reggie Hill said MPD is “really against the wall” on this one.

Police are searching for video surveillance.

“Hopefully, Georgia College will be able to turn up some video,” Hill said.

He thinks the mischief is happening during the night hours as people come in and out of the downtown night area.

Throughout the last two years, police say the trolley has come under this sort of vandalism four or five times.

Anyone with any information about the trolley incidents and the items stolen is asked to call Det. Scott Goodwin at 478-414-4091.
