Sinclair Christian Academy promotes enrollment

MILLEDGEVILLE — Sinclair Christian Academy officials and volunteers have been busy planning and implementing community outreach events to promote enrollment and educate others about the school.

"Our goal is to grow our students into the young men or women God has called them to be. We want to teach them to think of others before thinking of themselves, have a strong foundation in God's word, and above all, to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ," said Toy Carter, principal.

The first event this spring sponsored by the school was a reception for pastors held April 30.

"We contacted the pastors of our students and invited them to come worship with us in the chapel," Carter said.

A light breakfast was provided, and pastors were given the opportunity to ask questions about the ministry of the school.

The reception brought together a spectrum of churches from the area.

"We were excited to have had 10 churches represented at the breakfast."

The purpose of the event was to invite area churches to join SCA ministry, whether it be through financial donations, volunteer time or through services of prayer, she added.

On Sunday, May 4 Sinclair had open house. Prospective families were able to visit and tour the school, inquire about academic and extracurricular activities as well as register their children for the upcoming school year.

"We are blessed with dedicated and hardworking families who want to continue to see the school be a blessing to our community, showing them the love of Christ."

Families were given the opportunity to learn about the school size and core values of SCA, Carter said.

"Our class sizes are small, giving the teacher the ability and freedom to teach to the individual student rather than to the group as a whole."

SCA will hold a yard sale May 17 to bring in funds and offer the community another opportunity to learn about the school. It is slated for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

SCA is also making use of technology to promote enrollment. For a glimpse of the school and what it has to offer, interested parents can view a video on YouTube.

Angela Criscoe, owner of Crooked Pines Farm in Eatonton and Classy Pig Productions, created the video.

"We plan on visiting churches to share the video and give them an opportunity to share in this ministry," Carter said.

While preparing for enrollment for next year, Carter and faculty are also preparing for end of the year programs and celebrations.

"We have students performing and competing in our area's piano guild that is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13. They were taught by Dr. Steve Barnes."

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten graduations will be held Tuesday, May 20 with an SCA End of the Year program slated for Thursday, May 22.

"We love celebrating the achievements of our students every year," Carter said. "We realize and take very seriously our call to raise our students to love God and love others, and the honor and responsibility to raise these students takes all of us working together."

Sinclair Christian Academy is a private Protestant school that educates pre-K through 12th grade students.

If interested in enrollment, applications can be picked up at the school, located at 102 Airport Road, NE.
