MILLEDGEVILLE — Good morning. Here’s a look at what’s happening today.

On this day:

Welcome to May! Today is Law Day. Law Day provides an opportunity to explore the movement for civil and human rights in America and the impact it has had in promoting the ideal of equality under the law. It provides a forum for reflecting on the work that remains to be done in rectifying injustice, eliminating all forms of discrimination, and putting an end to human trafficking and other violations of our basic human rights. As Rev. Dr. King pointed out in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Best bet for today:

Today marks the 63rd observance of the National Day of Prayer. The annual Bible Reading Marathon kicks off at the old courthouse downtown at 6:30 p.m.

Upcoming events:

Allied Arts will host bluegrass favorite Tom Brantley and Missionary Ridge at Allen’s Market May 2 at 7:30 p.m.
