GCS, Chick-fil-A raise $5,000 for local teen fighting cancer

MILLEDGEVILLE —

Georgia Cancer Support (GCS) partnered with Chick-fil-A of Milledgeville to raise nearly $5,000 for local teen Josh Thompson who battles cancer.

"We had a record-breaker of a fundraiser. We had about 30 Baldwin High School students come out and help with face painting, hold up signs outside and collect change in buckets. We had Georgia Cancer Support volunteers doing tattoos and making bracelets. We also sold T-shirts and did a raffle," said Robbie White, founder of GCS. "It was just an unbelievable night. Everybody worked so hard."

The local eatery plans to donate 10 percent of its revenues from Tuesday evening to GCS to aid the Thompson family while Sanchez and Craig Orthodontics will match the amount of money that Chick-fil-A donates.

Thompson attends Baldwin High School and has participated in the JROTC program and played on the soccer team.

For more information about GCS, or to donate funds, contact White at 478-731-9390 or visit www.gacancersupport.com.
