The community has its last chance to provide input about the qualities the next Baldwin County public school system’s superintendent should possess. The deadline to complete the brief online survey is Friday.
“If anyone hasn’t had the opportunity to fill out the survey online, please feel free to give your input by Friday,” said school board chair John Jackson, District 4. “[Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA)] has provided us with our copy of the surveys that have been completed so far, and we have some great feedback. The board members are reading through them and we will review them for better understanding of what our community is looking for in the next superintendent.”
The school board encourages local officials, parents, students, school system employees and citizens to participate.
The survey can be found on the school system’s website.
“[Of the surveys completed], I’m expecting it to be in the upwards of 300,” Jackson said.
The school board members will receive formal training by GSBA on the interview process within the next two weeks.
The superintendent position is posted on the websites of GSBA, Teach Georgia and with the local school system. Qualified applicants seeking the position must have the application postmarked by Friday to GSBA.
“GSBA will go through, evaluate and organize all of the applicants,” Jackson said. “Then they will send us the applications and start the interview process.”
The school board will select three finalists to be publicly announced. A minimum of 14 days must pass before the school board can name the superintendent.
The survey can be found on the school system’s website at www.baldwin.schooldesk.net, or at www.surveymonkey.com/s/baldwincomm. For more information about the application process, or to share your input, contact a school board member or visit www.gsba.com.
