Avant - Wells

MILLEDGEVILLE —  

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Green of Milledgeville and Mr. Joe Avant of Sandersville announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephany Etta Avant of Tifton, to Jared Thomas Walls, son of Mary Beth Coppedge of Lilly and Don and Jenny Lynn Walls of Tazewell. 
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jewel Brown and the late Ray Brown of Sandersville, and Mrs. Johnnie Avant and the late Billy Avant of Sandersville, and Mrs. Janet Green and the late Bob Green of Milledgeville. 
A 2005 graduate of John Milledge Academy, she earned a nursing degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College School of Nursing. Now a registered nurse, Miss Avant is employed as a patient navigator at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton. 
Mr. Walls is the grandson of Mrs. Leola Sheppard and the late Charlie Walls of Cordele and Mrs. Ruby Coppedge and the late L.H. Coppedge of Vienna. 
He graduated from Fullington Academy in 2005, then completed an Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Environmental Horticulture at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Science and Environmental Systems at The University of Georgia and is pursing a Master's Degree in Plant Protection and Pest Management at The University of Georgia. 
The couple will be married at The Specht Farm in Milledgeville on September 22, 2012 in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony.

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities decided the Craig Nursing Center won’t close June 30, instead postponing the date to Aug. 31. The state is trying to remedy inadequate supervision of individuals with developmental disabilities transitioning to community group homes highlighted in a recent independent review.
