Mandolin Consort of Atlanta performs Friday

MILLEDGEVILLE — Allied Arts will present the Mandolin Consort of Atlanta (MCA) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Allen’s Market Building, 101 West McIntosh St. in downtown Milledgeville.

Ticket are $10 each and on sale now at Allied Arts, 201 North Wayne St. A consort is described as a small group of musicians performing together, typically playing instrumental music with like instruments.

Following in the tradition of mandolin ensembles and orchestras of the early 20th century, the “Mandolin Consort of Atlanta” (MCA) was founded by a select group of five members of the Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra. Their years of experience performing in North America bring a fresh new spin on music written both for the mandolin and other ensemble music to a new audience.

The five members of the Mandolin Consort of Atlanta are Bob Knysz and Nancy King (mandolin), Ed Davis (mandolo), Barbara Knysz (mandocello) and Walter Dean (guitar).

Mandolin Consort of Atlanta’s program in Milledgeville will offer a program of music styles ranging from classical to contemporary. For more information call 487-452-3950 or visit for tickets or for more information.
